AMSTERDAM TREES

Amsterdam tees is an experimental geo-interactive music app using a tree data set to generate music while walking through Amsterdam. Unfortenately the app is no longer available in the android app store but the app can still be downloaded as an apk file from github (including the source code). So with a littlebit of a hack you should still be able to try the app (when visiting Amsterdam, cheers :) See the instructions on github.

The idea of this project was to to achieve an intense and deep connection with the surrounding environment and the trees in particular through music based on geographical/tree data.

The app is created using the cordova framework, pure data for the generative music, QGis for creating a lot of map tiles, leaflet.js to render the tiles and last but not least, a huge tree data set from the city of Amsterdam which is imported into a sql database on the knooiwark server.
