Hi, my name is Geert Dijkstra and I'm living in the beautiful Amsterdam. Music has always been playing an important role in my life. Currently I'm very much into using Max MSP and playing classical guitar.
My musical journey started when I was a young teenager in the mid-80s when I got my first guitar. I have enjoyed playing in various rock/soul/funk bands for many years and played live on stage many times. After a while I also started to experiment with the Atari ST computer and a 4-track cassette recorder so I could put together tracks on my own using 8-bit samples, a midi sound module, guitars & solina organ. In the last 15 years I got interested in coding, DIY electronics, tai chi and gardening.
Knooiwark is a legendary yet very beautiful word from the local languague spoken in the North and Eastern part of the Netherlands. It can have several meanings:
Maybe knooikwark means you don't necessarily want to be efficient but just enjoy making stuff. I'm not sure, but there is something with the word knooiwark which attracts me, which keeps me going...
